Since Monday, 17th of October, 2016 over 40 000 Grade 12 students in Papua New Guinea are sitting for their final National Examinations. Out these 40 000, only 6 000 will get a space in the tertiary institutions in the country. The majority of them, 34 000 will drop out of the system with the social degrable tag, ' school drop outs.' The 6 000 who will  be lucky to get a space will do so  one merit or other means is a suspicion in Papua New Guinea. Many parents have visited college principles and univeristy head of departments (HODs) with huge bribe money. The names of students who paid money are listed in the principals and HODs' dairy. When they went to Department of Higher Education, Research , Science and Technology (DERST) Office for selection, they will quickly to the secondary schools which these pre paid students attend and select them, irrespective of their grades. This corruption is eating away the standard of education in PNG.  Someone in DHERST need to step up and say, selection for all government instudions including churches, except for the Catholic CHurch, to be done by an independent body. Say get all volunteers from overseas working in PNG to come and do the selections using the selection creteria set for each level of institution.  The Catholic Church is the only Church is corrupt free and does selections on her insitution without any bribery or bias. Others has huge amount of bribery, bias, nepotism,  and regionalsim.
